Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King. – 1 Peter 2:17 NKJV

Simple yet profound instructions. Hard to live by, especially when you see the values you love being attacked by the political administration in charge.

Does this mean I should be wallpaper, watch and do nothing? Absolutely not! When we live in a community, we have a responsibility to help exact change in said body of people. So, how do we address current grievances?

Our first recourse is always prayer. After that, our democratic process is about debating issues in the arena of idea; hence, a two-party governing majority. Speak to the issues; criticize or praise, that is your right. But when it comes to the leader, his family, etc., we must refrain, as Christians, from disparaging, malicious, and insulting comments…God’s word, not mine.

Here is what we should be asking: What is God using this administration to accomplish? Our faith and God’s word tell us that God is always in control; something big is coming. We want to be ready for it. Let’s keep our eyes on the real Kingdom, and pray for the leaders of this earthly kingdom.
