Have you ever searched the word “tongue” in the bible? You’ll be amazed at how many scriptures you find. There is a good reason for this. Your tongue holds the power of life and death over your life and the lives of those you influence. Have you ever looked at it that way? I mean really considered the effect your words have? Solomon writes in Proverbs 15:4 NKJV “A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” That is a strong statement. You can break a spirit with only your words or you can speak life. Speak life into your marriage, into your children, into your finances, into your very soul! James compares our tongue to a ships rudder in chapter 3 vs. 4 and 5. Although we are driven by all sorts of circumstances, the storms that life throws at us, we can steer through it all by what comes out of our mouths. What comes out of your mouth when you are in the middle of a storm? Next time try praying. Try thanking God for the countless blessing he has bestowed on you. Speak life into your life!
